General English

There is more to communication than language. To effectively communicate, it is necessary to understand the cultural environment that forms the nuances of every language. For this reason, English must not only be learned, it must be experienced. Like all our English programs, the General English Program is fully integrated. It combines in-class and online learning (theory) with practical experience (field trips and activities). The latter provides students with the opportunity to develop a fuller understanding and appreciation for the culture surrounding the spoken language.

Some examples of experiential activities include:

  1. Guest speakers in various cultural areas – arts and entertainment, business, tourism
  2. Site visits to local, culturally characteristic destinations (restaurants, sporting events, theatres, lectures
  3. Visits to local businesses to learn about the culture of business
